At £17.50 for six chocolates, Demarquette's
African Queen Truffles is a very considered purchase to make. To be honest, the only reason I bought them was because I had a 45% discount code.
Part of the Masterpiece collection, I was expecting these to be as gorgeous as Demarquette's
Imperial China, Royal Marina, and Lost Kingdom truffles, but unfortunately I was left disappointed.
In the product description,it states that 'the flavour profile of this cocoa has been enhanced during the fermentation stages by tapping into boosting factors which are present in natural fauna. This innovative approach reduces the bitterness and acidity often found in dark chocolate.'
This is true, the 68% cocoa ganache hardly has any bitterness to it, but I can't hep but feel that that is because of the sweetness from the honey added.
These are nice chocolates to be sure, but they don't taste spectacular, and definitely not worth the price tag.
