Demarquette has released a new caramel selection.
Delights & Decadence consists of twelve teacup shaped caramel chocolates inspired by tea and coffee blends. Perfect to go with a cuppa.
My favourite is the Viennese Coffee, which has a coffee and fig infused caramel incased in milk chocolate. Coffee and caramel complement each other really well, because the sweetness of the caramel takes off the bitter edge of the coffee. The addition of figs, gives it a warming fruity sensation.
In second place came the Jasmine Tea, which is inside a 71.1% chocolate shell. I was surprised that I liked this as much as I did, because I thought it would be too floral for my taste, but although flavours were strong, they were not too flowery; instead the combination of caramel and jasmine had a tangy senation.
In contrast, the strong bergamot inside the dark Earl Grey Tea did not sit well. I love the scent bergamot gives off in candles, but I think candles is where it belongs.
My least favourite, however, was the Bedouin Coffee, which was a dark chocolate with Arabian spices. Initially the flavours were pleasing, but the after taste was too hot and spicy. I expect people who like chilli and chocolate will like it though.
Sitting in the middle are the Darjeeling Tea and Chai, which I liked, but found less distinctive in taste, and not as memorable.
