Demarquette does four types of truffles, and their No Sugar, No Dairy, No Nuts Truffles are available in boxes of eighteen or thirty-six. These are perfect for people on a multitude of restricted diets, and are suitable for diabetics, people who are lactose or gluten intolerant, those with nut allergies, and vegans.
I am none of these, but the truffles can be equally enjoyed by anyone looking for a rich chocolate hit, and I certainly enjoyed them.
Dipped in pure cocoa powder, the 63.12% Venezuelan chocolate shell is sweetened ever so slightly with Maltitol. This makes it not too bitter, but retains all the rich intensity of a super dark chocolate. The ganache is made from soya cream, and while it does not melt in the mouth in quite the same way as dairy, the firm texture makes it linger.
