With these truffles, Hotel Chocolat have made a very successful attempt at recreating an old favourite British dessert. I ask you, who in the world does not love rhubarb crumble covered in custard?
The chocolates are beautifully presented in a hexagonal milk chocolate with a white chocolate top that comes with a red dot in the middle and a spattering of real vanilla flecks that come through strongly in the flavour. This design is reminiscent of a custard tart, and is lovely and creamy.
The filling on the inside comes in layers of rhubarb and custard ganache. The rhubarb is very tart - a perfect counter balance to the white chocolate and sweet vanilla custard. With six in a pack, you might think there were plenty for sharing, but you'd be wrong.
