Jodie Van Der Velden (hence the name Josophan's was derived from) founded Josophan's Fine Chocolates in 2005 through sister Cafe Madeline, of which sells some beautiful hot chocolate in the Blue Mountains today.
These are just lovely
It was about 18 months ago that Josophan's decided to expand, and therefore set up a second boutique on the corner of King and York Streets in the Sydney CBD area. One of her nieces Laura is a Sydney University science student, and works at this boutique on a part-time basis to support her studies while gaining inspiration from her aunty who founded this business.
Such a homely feel
Jodie has undertaken intense chocolate studies to get to where she is today. Her studies began in Adelaide, and she has also undertaken additional studies at Le Cordon Bleu. Jodie has also visited many of the cocoa plantations around the world in gaining appreciation of how chocolate is extracted from the cacao bean.
Josophan's specialise in organic, fair trade couverture chocolate. All workers receive a fair days pay for a fair days work. No artificial flavours or preservatives are used in any Josophan's Fine Chocolate products.
Organic chocolate champagne for Valentine's Day
At the front counter of both their Sydney and Leura stores, you will find a diverse range of beautiful chocolate ganaches. The standard sizes retail for around $1.90 a piece. They have a self life of 7-10 days. These are quite creamy, and this signature chocolate product of theirs comes in a diverse range of flavours - from white chocolate passionfruit to chilli and lavender to name.
Some single origin chocolate nearby
The people working for Josophan's Fine Chocolates clearly understand their chocolate, and what single origin chocolate also means. They get that the fewer ingredients in your chocolate, the better that chocolate is for you.
This chocolatier has also won numerous food awards at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Chocolate with 100% cocoa is also available for purchase at their two respective boutiques.
