While at the newsagents the other day, those sneaky chocolates strategically placed by the till lured me in. The reason I failed to resist this time round was because to two limited edition chocolate bars were making themselves readily known. With bright green attractive wrapping, how could I ignore them?

Both of these bars have been made by the Mars company, and are adaptions to their two most popular chocolates, Mars Bars and Snickers. And the change? They have added hazelnuts.

I'm not sure how readily available these are or how long they will be around, because upon closer inspection, I discovered that these bars are in fact a Polish import. What I do not know, is whether the 'limited edition' status refers to their appearance in the UK, or if they are limited edition in their country of origin as well.

Either way, I am not going to worry about it too much, for when I bit into the 49g Snickers I could not tell the slightest difference from the regular peanut variety. Peanuts and hazelnuts have distinctly different flavours, so it's not great that I was unable to distinguish the two here.

As for the 47g Mars Bar, the taste of hazelnut was barely noticeable, and all it did was disrupt the smooth texture you usually associate with Mars. The malty flavour was also less pronounced.
