If you want to taste all the flavours of summer, then you have come to the right place. Hotel Chocolat's Summer H-Box is a selection of fourteen truffles for £12.



Most of the chocolates are different, but there are a couple of repeats. This is good if you are sharing, because you know how annoying it is when someone else picks your favourite. If there are two, then there's no fighting.



As it is a summer collection, it is no surprise that most of the truffles are filled with a fruity ganache, but there is a praline and caramels as well. The coffee and walnut is a classic combination with earthy tones, while the Trillionaire Shortbread takes Millionaire Shortbread to a whole new level.



Many of the chocolates are based on desserts; for example, their Eton Mess is a customer favourite; it has a light strawberry ganache flavoured filling with a sprinkle of freeze dried strawberries and meringue pieces on top. Although I associate a custard tart more with Christmas than summer, it is still a welcome addition; it has a hint of nutmeg that compliments the vanilla filling perfectly.

Other flavours include the Berrythyme Truffle, Chocolate Trifle, Sour Cherries Truffle, Strawberry Cheesecake, Raspberry Panacotta, Caramel Cheesecake, and my best-timer, Summer Berries, which has a sharp zing.
