Every Easter, Hotel Chocolat bring out a selection of different Easter eggs to make sure they make something to suit everybody. The Classic Eggsuisite Collection is for those who like to sample a bit of everything, and is available to members of the Tasting Club.
Inside you will find two thick easter egg halves, a goose egg, and twelve egglet truffles. This also comes with a scoring menu describing each chocolate.
The egg halves come in their signature 40% milk and 70% dark. While the first is mellow and creamy, the latter has earthy tones. The thickness of the shell creates long lasting mouthfuls of joy.
The caramel goose egg is impressive in appearance - mocha coloured with dark flecks - but is standard in taste. It can be gobbled up quickly without even touching the sides.
The egglets come in several flavours, such as raspberry & lime, apricot, Irish coffee, hazelnut praline, and my favourite of all, the olive oil & mandarin. Olive oil may sound like an odd ingredient for a chocolate, but the two go together like clouds in heaven. It creates a silky smooth texture, and a slightly savoury taste, which blends beautifully with the citrus.
Usually the box is priced at £28, but now the Easter sale is on, it is half price.
