Yorkie is a chocolate bar made by Nestle, and invented by Jim Yorkie, who found a gap in the market for chocolate aimed at men. You might remember the well known slogan that specifically stated they were 'not for girls'. I just found this as a bit of harmless fun, but it got complaints, and eventually the line has dropped.
I love Yorkies because they are thick solid bars of chocolate. Most annoyingly, to cut down costs, the size of Yorkies has reduced dramatically. In 2002 a standard bar weighed 70g, and now it is just 55g.
I recently discovered that Yorkie do a mini biscuit version too. These come as a pack of nine, and I got them on special offer for a £1 at Sainsbury's.
The biscuit base actually tastes a lot like Bourbon biscuits, only with a softer texture. They very taste nice, but lack the satisfying chunkiness I come to associate with Yorkies. What makes Yorkies so good is that it is thick solid chocolate, and nothing but. Adding the biscuit seems to efface the point, as you need several biscuits to satiate yourself, where as you only need one chocolate bar.
