Mortimer Pure Dark Chocolate Powder

Mortimer Pure Dark Chocolate Powder

I love hot chocolate, especially the kind which makes you think of being little again - the thick hot chocolate which your mom used to serve during Winter, when you'd been good. That's the hot chocolate I remember. My mother presented it to my sisters and I in thick mugs, and the hot chocolate tasted exactly how I'd expected.

I recall my mother making this kind of hot chocolate and thanks to Sainsbury's, I've found a cocoa brand, which encourages you to do the same. This is Mortimer's pure dark chocolate powder (£3.49), and I remember my Mom following this exact ritual, as stated on the back of the packet, for a perfect mug of real cocoa.

Heat milk in a pan, add four heaped teaspoons of chocolate powder, whisk quickly/or use a fork, until smooth and pour into large mugs to add a little comfort to your day.

That is exactly what my Mom did, and what I repeated tonight. I did as instructed and I can honestly say it was divine.

I didn't add any sugar, but feel free to if you like. Four teaspoons of this chocolate powder is enough to make you weak at the knees, so if you've got a bit of a thing about hot chocolate, Mortimer, is the brand for you.
