Willies Colombian Black Cacao
When I think of Colombia I think of Spanish music artist Shakira. She's fiery, fun, and her music makes you want to move your body. Her sound is fearless and exciting. The same could be said of Willie's Colombian Black Cacao.
This Spanish bean has a sweeter quality to some of the other cacao's Willie sells. It has slightly stronger fruity accents than the others, which is a quality of the Santander bean.
When this melts it smells like citrus and chocolate, but not quite chocolate orange (which I hate), but this cacao has a generic citrus scent, without an overpowering fruity taste, thankfully. Instead, it scents bakes and bars beautifully.
I consider this cacao the 'love' one of all the types I've tried from Willie's range. It is intense, sweet, and makes you fall head over heels when you try some in any dish. A small dose is enough to seduce the most sceptical cacao doubters.
I have tried this cacao on a number of my friends, and all of them (male and female), love it. I have been trying to perfect the best protein bars, and I've realised you need chocolate - cacao - for both energy, and to make them taste nice! I've had most success with this type of cacao - it offers a flavour the others don't, and works very well with oats, nut butters, and walnuts. You don't need to season the protein mix as much because of the fruity notes in the cacao, but that's just my personal taste.
For £4.00 you can enjoy a taste of Colombia in it's purest form. Forget complicated dishes, or expensive ingredients, you only really need the one: this cacao. Willie's Colombian Santander cacao is one of the cacao's on the market which pays true homage to the taste of the Spanish-speaking country. It is spicy, sweet, and is nothing like you've ever tasted before.
Don't knock it until you've tried it - you might find you love it. Rich, full of flavour, and unmistakably dark, it is Willie's Cacao at its best.
