Ghirardelli Squares
The moment you hear the name Ghirardelli, their signature chocolate squares pop into your head. With a wide range of chocolate types and flavours, this company has come a long way since about 1838.
History of the Company
Italian candymaker Domenico Ghirardelli was the pioneer behind this big name which went on to create history in the chocolate business. Started as a small chocolate business in South America, he went on to open a confectionery store.

Later he moved to San Francisco and started D. Ghirardelli & Co in 1852, second oldest chocolate company in the USA. In the next four decades, the company did a roaring business not only manufacturing and exporting chocolates but also coffee and spices. After his retirement, his sons took over the company. With huge number of offices and buildings, San Francisco declared the area as Ghirardelli Square.

Girardelli has an entire in-house chocolate manufacturing, right from the import of cacao beans, their quality control, separation, powdering and finally making the chocolate is all done by the company without any outsourcing.
Their chocolates come in various shapes and sizes, the signature product being the squares. Available in milk, dark and white chocolate ranging from 32% to 86% cacao. They come with different fillings like caramel, peppermint, raspberry, vanilla, coffee, peanut butter, caramelized almonds to name a few. These are available in bar form or individual squares.
On display in store
Chocolate coated treats like peanuts, almonds, raisins, cherries, blueberries and more are another fascinating creation.
In addition, they have holiday specials like egg nog, peppermint bark n milk and dark chocolate, chocolate coins, pecan pie to name a few.

All these available in individual packaging or as single flavour or assorted boxes, baskets and more lovely decorative gift pieces as per the occasion.
For me as a complete chocoholic, I love sampling the new Ghirardelli inventions, but peppermint in dark chocolate always remains my favourite!
