Godiva Chocolatier

Godiva is a Belgium based chocolatier that has been in business since 1926. The company's headquarters are based in New York, and this chocolatier has around 450 chocolate shops worldwide in 80 different countries. In Australia, they distribute and sell their diverse range of truffles through the David Jones Food Halls. Of course, Godiva has also opened up a 40-seat cafe in Harrod's London in Knightsbridge.



The name Godiva was derived from Lady Godiva. From there Godiva was founded by Joseph Draps. Draps is a chocolatier by trade, and developed a special formula for developing some rich chocolate. From there, he opened his first shop in Brussels. From the success of Brussels, those elegant marble tables with brown legs made their way to the United Kingdom, Germany and Italy in quick succession. Godiva set up shop in the USA in 1966. There definitely had to be a store in stylish Fifth Avenue in New York.



This is Belgium chocolate in style. At David Jones Food Halls there is an elegant display of these mouth watering truffles. They are worth $220 a kilo. Yes, they do not come cheap, however we are referring to quality, well tempered chocolate here. They fill the spot, and they melt in your mouth.



You can also buy packets themed for different events such as Christmas, Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day to name. If you're lucky, you will find this product heavily reduced. The truffles can be mixed into gems, and they come in a Godiva branded keepsake glass. A small one of these with around 10 truffles can easily set you back $30. Buy a pack of five truffles without a glass, and you only pay $10. Top picks include the Strawberry and the Dark Chocolate Truffles. Look out for the purple and gold packaging for the latter.



Their chocolate display's are works of art in themselves. They're too pretty to eat. Godiva products are also available to purchase online, and bulk orders are also available.

If chocolate is to be classed as being a fashionable and stylish treat, then Godiva are clearly the leaders of quality, shiny chocolate. Beautifully tempered at he right consistency.
