Kallari Single Source Cacao Chocolate Bar 85

My Auntie has just returned from a trip to London, and she knows I have a penchant for dark chocolate, so she bought be back a new find from WholeFoods: 85% cacao Kallari Single Source Chocolate (£4.00).

The chocolate is encased in an unusual packaging: a bright blue leaf sets it apart from the other bars of chocolate, and shows it's bean heritage (the rainforest).

Now, I've tried extra dark chocolate before, but this is a completely different flavour altogether. Up until now I've yet to try any chocolate from this part of the world, and I have to say it is oh so wonderful; deep, almost nutty flavours give it a taste like no other. There is no bitterness whatsoever and it is awfully smooth.

100% percent of the profits of this award-winning single-source organic chocolate bar return to the cooperative of 850 indigenous Kichwa farmers in the Ecuadorian Amazon so that they can help to preserve one of Earth's most important ecosystems.

It is also dairy and gluten free, and vegan-friendly, as shown by the ingredients list: Rainforest Alliance Certified cacao mass, organic cane sugar, organic cocoa butter, organic whole vanilla bean.
