Montezumas Limited Edition Bars
[image1]
Over the years, Montezumas has produced a great range of bars. Of course, if you keep bringing new things out, some things are eventually going to have to go to make room.
After much demand, Montezumas has decided to bring back a few of its customers' old favourites for a limited time.
Out of these, Jungle Fever is my favourite. It is a 100g fruit and nut bar, but offers something different from the standard varieties on the high street. To start with, the quality of the chocolate is much higher, but the filling is rather interesting too. As well as the typical raisins and hazelnuts that usually mean 'fruit and nut', there are also date and walnut pieces. The bar is jam packed with fruit and nuts, and although this does make the bar look a bit messy, the taste is excellent.
Legally Lime is the second milk chocolate bar, and the two go together very well. The only down fall with this bar is the addition of hemp seeds, which add nothing to the taste, but completely ruin the texture, with hard crunchy pieces that get stuck in your teeth.
Orangang was a bit of a disappointment for me. The 70% dark chocolate is infused with orange oil. The description says the orange is sweet, but I disagree. I found it quite bitter and more reminiscent of marmalade.
With a name like Acid Zest, you might expect this bar to be quit sharp, but the white chocolate is incredibly sweet. So sweet that the flavour of orange and lemon is lost.
If any of these bars were to stick around, I would definitely want it to be Jungle Fever; the others I wouldn't bother with again.
