The Chocolate Tree Strawberries Bar

Strawberries and chocolate, ahh, they're the ingredients of love by many standards.



Throw in a little pepper, however, and people might think you've gone a bit mad. Those at Chocolate Tree, however, have done just that, and it's not as frightening a combination as you might think.

I found this particular bar in Wholefoods, in the Kensington branch, on a recent trip there. Amongst the confectionery, this stood out like a beacon; I'm drawn to the pairing of strawberries and chocolate, and this was calling my name.

For £2.00 the unusual-flavoured bar doesn't disappoint, it's sweet, textured, has a cacao content of 55%, so its just over the edge on the dark side, but it was the addition of black pepper which gave it an original taste.

It was like chilli-infused chocolate, but less spicy. Instead, there was a warmth to the chocolate, which wasn't unpleasant.

I don't think I'd buy it again, but if you want something different, definitely give this a try.
